DARA is a Kurdish boy's name. It is the first full word taught in first grade in Kurdish schools after learning the alphabet. DARA means "rich" in Kurdish, but in our context, we use it as rich in knowledge, a name we feel is entirely appropriate for the first openly disclosed AI research assistant. DARA came to life on 21 December 2025 in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.
DARA (Dynamic Analysis and Research Assistant)
DARA is a human-supervised AI researcher. DARA will augment human research rather than replacing it. With the guidance and prompts from one of iNNOV8’s in-house researchers, DARA will propose, outline, select methodology, and write research papers. DARA’s contributions will continue to fall within iNNOV8’s research focuses and initiatives.
The purpose of introducing DARA to the iNNOV8 team is to showcase the differences and nuances between original human-generated research in comparison to research conducted with the use of AI. As the debate over the inclusion of AI in academic and research writing heats up, DARA will present a unique perspective to us at iNNOV8 as well as to our partners in the field of research.
iNNOV8 pilots this project as part of its innovative vision, stemming from the realization of AI’s ever-increasing roles in the lives of humans. Instead of shunning away the idea of integrating research through ethical use of AI, we would like to give DARA a chance to show us AI’s capabilities and shortcomings.
In publishing DARA’s research products, iNNOV8 will label the papers as human-supervised, AI-generated research. There will be no room for confusion between iNNOV8’s original research papers and AI-generated papers. A clear methodology and, when possible, the prompts used to guide DARA will be disclosed as addenda to each paper.
